Prices start at $4000
Males start at $5,500 and Females start at $7,000
*These high prices are to discourage the casual buyer from buying the extra small type Yorkies. If you can afford this size of Yorkie, you can afford the care they require.
For the ones who say they can only afford a couple hundred dollars. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisingly states: “I can buy a cheaper pup elsewhere”. I also address you; the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”.
No dog is “just a pet”.
Behind every pure bred puppy/dog is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed dogs without papers, that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage. When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about papers what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the puppy you just want the cheapest thing you can find! When you select to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every pup ; both dogs owned and every pup they’ve sold for its lifetime. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their dogs . The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it. Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family. This does not take into account any puppy/dog who might get sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question.
A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing. Because that’s what life is about...In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do tests, echos, xrays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register litters, research pedigrees, deworm their puppies and get them evaluated by specialists.
Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.
Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family and someone’s whole world!!!
People ask us why are good Yorkies so expensive. Anyone that knows anything about the care of Yorkies can tell you they are high maintenance. But what really makes a Yorkie so expensive is that we aren’t just selling a puppy. We are taking 4 months of our lives and putting everything on hold. We trust NO ONE to take care of our puppies during that time. We constantly monitor them, weigh them, make sure they eat properly, monitor their play time, make sure we play with them so they are socialized properly, the list goes on and on.
We have to buy quality in order to produce quality and quality cost lots of money. Until I became a breeder I didn’t understand it either. It costs a lot of money to make money. So please don’t ever think we are getting rich off of this . We do it because we love the breed . People ask why the Price of a Yorkie is so high, and I always answer this way: Yorkies are not cheap to raise and we work around the clock to ensure our Yorkies and their babies are given the very best of care (we always have our Yorkies vet checked before we breed and during pregnancy and whether it be a c-section or a natural delivery we are there every moment of the way making sure mommy Yorkies and baby Yorkies are doing good, eating well and at the right temperature. Its a 24/7 job and we enjoy every bit of it :) This is how "You" are guaranteed to get a healthy happy Yorkie who has been well socialized and home raised with lots of love. Often, our life's get put on hold for these Yorkie babies. Vacations and holidays are hard to come by :) because our Yorkie pups are the number 1 priority for us and they fill our hearts with warmth.
But the biggest reason Yorkies are so expensive is because they steal our hearts before they steal your heart. We don’t trust just anyone with a piece of our heart and when they go to their new home it sometimes feels like that piece is ripped from our chest and we will never get it back again. You aren’t just getting a puppy from us, you are getting a piece of our heart and that’s expensive. Value it well.
From our home to yours, our Yorkies will bring you the greatest joy!!
I respect and relate to this comment quite a bit. There was a time when I also could not afford a higher priced purebred Yorkie. I had saved all I could at that time in my life and it wasn't enough. I reached out to breeders and found a couple I could afford and yet I was denied a pup because I had 2 small children under 10 years. I reached out to Yorkie Rescues and was still denied adoption of a Yorkie because of the kids age of my kids.
So, I watched the local animal shelters. I got on every waiting list for a purebred Yorkie at these shelters. I searched the internet high and low for my chance at a Yorkie. Eventually, I found a Yorkie at a local shelter! Through a long and quite emotional few days, I finally brought home my first Yorkie, Oshii.
My point here is, if you are on a fixed income, a young person with limited money, a young family with bills and debt and you still want a Yorkie, if you cannot afford one of my Yorkies , that is okay. Take some time to look into the many prices of a Yorkie. Yorkies may cost less in one state and cost a whole lot more in another state. Search your local rescues and animal shelters. There are many lovely Yorkies looking for loving fur ever homes and a person to love them the way the deserve.
Those who don't know me This is me. I AM A BREEDER...
I have tons of receipts for my dogs food bills and supplements!.
I have more whelping supplies than I do medicine and first aid supplies.
I have vaccines in my fridge, lactated ringers and plasma on hand, my vet on speed dial and multiple puppy pens in my living room.
I am a breeder, who when bad weather strikes, save the dogs/puppies before taking cover myself. My feet find the way to the puppy pens before I have even eaten breakfast in the morning and the puppy pens are my last stop before bed.
Personal plans revolve around delivering or hand feeding puppies. They are made around heat dates, whelp dates, puppies going to their new homes and vet dates.
I am a breeder, who has been covered in more bodily fluids from my dogs on more occasions than I care to admit.
Most of the time my conversations with friends revolves around my dogs.
When I get exhausted and feel like I can't do another sleepless night hand feeding a puppy around the clock every 2 hours I remind myself religiously that the hand feeding is only temporary and the reward is coming.
I am a breeder who sacrifices my own sanity and rest to wake up every hour to check on a dam in labor, or soon to be.
Many people wouldn't understand how it feels to have invested hours upon hours into a weak puppy to ultimately lose it and how it can feel the same as losing a loved one or the joy I feel when all the invested hours have paid off in one that lives.
I am a breeder, who has bottle fed, syringe fed and even sponge fed a puppy, doing whatever it takes feeding every 2 hours and it taking 45 minutes to do it for weeks at a time to ensure it's survival.
I have learned to be proficient at vaccinations, sub- q fluids, syringe feeding, temperature taking and formulated and perfected my own puppy formula.
Working out natural, well working, remedies to just about every puppy issue , like canned pumpkin for constipation or loose poop's.
My Vet knows me by my first name, and has witnessed me cry countless times.
I am a breeder, to me that 63 days takes on new meaning still excited by every new life. It is I who delivers all my pups, towels and heating pads on ready, happiness and sadness sometimes intermingled.
It is I who has breathed the first breath of life into a puppy who has refused to take that first breath. Even though it increases my work load, I look forward to the 14 day stage when eyes open, and puppies begin to emerge from the helplessness of newborns. Puppy breath, a first bark, and a heart of exploration. I am a conscientious lover of animals and I have found my niche.
I am a breeder, and I am not cruel, dumb, uncaring or criminal. I take great responsibility for every life I bring into this world and ensure it goes to a wonderful, loving and perfect home. An extension of the same love and care they received while in my own home.
I am not raking in money while sitting on my butt. Every penny I make I earn through blood, sweat, hard work and tears. My greatest joy is a healthy puppy going to a wonderful home.
The cards of thanks, gifts from clients and the pictures of my puppies with their new families are the fringe benefits of my efforts.
I am an animal lover, nurse, midwife, heavy laborer, customer service representative and marketer and PROUDLY I AM A BREEDER!
Borrowed from a friend
Now that I am home, and settled and fed,
My ears have been scratched while I snuggle in bed,
But I'd like to unpack before I forget,
There's baggage I've brought, so much to regret.
Let's unpack loneliness, heartache and tears,
And there by my leash lies my shame and my fears.
As I look on these things that I've tried to deny,
I know I must shed them or else I shall die.
I loved them, those others, who left me behind.
I tried to be good...I was learning to mind.
Oh, sure, I barked, but only when lonely,
And that shoe I chewed...it wasn't their only!
Will you add to my baggage, or help me unpack?
I pray that you won't just take me right back.
I wouldn't have brought all the baggage I did,
But I hadn't a choice in the life I was bid.
Let's toss out my past and never look back.
Please, please won't you help me unpack?
