Chocolate Yorkies are considered part of the Parti Yorkie group. As the name implies, Chocolate Yorkies are have entirely brown coats that vary in coloring from deep bronze to tan.
Biro describes the color combination of these pups who have white and brown, white and tan or white and gold. BIro is used to describe both the Parti Yorkies and Biewer Terriers who have this coat coloring.
Merle refers to the pattern present in a dogs coat. This piebald coat and blue or odd color eyes are the defining characteristics of this pup. Merle's can be prone to health issues and two merles should never be breed together. *Merle yorkies are NOT purebred.
Gold, Golden, Gold Dust or whatever term is used describes this variation of Yorkie who's full coat is of a gold color. Color variesbetween a deep and rich golden color up to a light cream.
As you can see, there are many variations of Yorkies. Many breeders will call these Rare or Exotic Yorkies. These are not Rare in any way and are usually not purebred Yorkies. Traditional and Parti yorkies are purebred. Be prepared to spend more for one of these mixed pups under the guise that they are special in some way. It only takes 6 breedings to have a pup test as purebred.
